Lyon vs Gazelec Ajaccio Betting Tips & Predictions

Lyon managed to move back into 2nd position in Ligue 1 last weekend as their 3-2 win over Toulouse saw them take advantage of Monaco’s failure to win. They now sit level on points with Monaco, leading them in the table on goal difference.

They will need to keep the results flowing in the final three games of the season though. Monaco might be out of form, but the likes of Nice and Saint-Etienne are only two points adrift of Lyon and Monaco themselves. Add to that the crucial match next weekend as Lyon host Monaco and the fight for a Champions League spot is looking very tasty.

Lyon are surely the favourites to take 2nd position though. They are unbeaten ineight matches in Ligue 1 and have won six of them. They are the form team in Ligue 1 at the moment, and they are currently occupying that all important 2nd place.

Gazelec Ajaccio also saw a crucial shift in the table last weekend. Their 3-2 win over Bastia saw them climb out of the Ligue 1 relegation zone and into 17th position at the expense of Reims. They are only one point ahead of Reims though, and with tough matches against Lyon and Paris Saint Germain in their final three games they will need to be at their best.

This win ended a run of four Ligue 1 games without a victory for the minnows of Ligue 1, meaning their recent record now stands at three defeats, one draw, and one win from their last five outings. Away from home they haven’t won in five matches though, whilst Lyon have won seven and drawn two of their last nine home games.

Both teams have been involved in some high scoring matches recently. Nine of Lyon’s last 13 outings have seen at least three goals scored, while Gazelec Ajaccio have seen goalfests in four of their last seven away days. I think Lyon will get the victory though, and with both teams going for it I can see another high scoring result on the way. Odds of 5/6 for a Lyon Win and Over 2.5 Goals look attractive, and I’m backing a 3-1 correct score prediction at 10/1 as well.
