Mallorca’s current plight is a far cry from their long and predominantly successful spell in La Liga which ended in 2013. This is not an easy game though against an Elche side that had gone 11 matches unbeaten prior to their weekend loss at Cordoba. They had been drawing more than they’d been winning though with 5 of their previous 6 fixtures ending all square and that is the main reason they are 3 points off the top six rather than right in it. They could really do with the win here too in order to put some pressure on the sides above them who play on Wednesday and Thursday night so it is a big game for both sides.

Mallorca are as short as Evens with some bookies to win this but it’s hard to see the logic in backing them at that price given Mallorca wins have been a real rarity this term. Given Elche are a tough side to beat and have only lost 9 of their 39 matches this season, a record only 2 sides can better, surely backing Double Chance – Elche or Draw at 8/11 offers the value here.
