      Manchester United vs Liverpool Predictions

Manchester United were enjoying a good start to their season up until the last weekend in August. They had won two of their three games in the Premier League alongside their comfortable qualification to the Champions League group stages.

But Swansea proved a test too far for Louis Van Gaal’s side, and the Welsh side took three points away from the match after their strike partnership of Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis scored in a 2-1 win.

This match highlighted their attacking problems, and despite putting seven past Club Brugge in the Champions League playoff they haven’t managed to score more than one in a Premier League match yet.

But this could change against Liverpool on Saturday. The away side managed to concede three at home against an injury stricken and out of form West Ham in their last match, so there are certainly goals to be had against them.

They have a number of injury problems as well. Joe Allen, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, and Jon Flanagan are all out injured, with their star player Phillipe Coutinho suspended after a harsh red card against West Ham.

This loss against West Ham was their first of the season, and came after a goalless draw against Arsenal and back to back 1-0 wins against Stoke and Bournemouth.

This leaves Manchester United and Liverpool on seven points apiece, with United leading on goal difference.

Manchester United have recent history on their side for this encounter. They have won four of the last five meetings between the sides.

With Manchester United holding the home advantage and having no injury problems to contend with, I think they can get the win on Saturday. Odds of 17/20 for a home win look like pretty good value to me as well, and they could even bag a few goals to up their confidence against a side that showed huge defensive cracks against West Ham.
