Manchester United

      Tip Reasoning

Manchester United had been enjoying a very successful pre season up until their final International Champions Cup match against Paris Saint Germain.

They had won all 3 of their ICC matches, but suffered a 2-0 loss to PSG thanks to first half goals from Blaise Matuidi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite this loss, they will still be happy with their progress in pre season. They beat Barcelona 3-1 the match before, and enjoyed fairly comfortable, if not emphatic, victories over Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.

These friendly matches gave time for their numerous new signings to have some game time with their new teammates.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, and Bastian Schweinsteiger are the big name arrivals of the summer, with around £55 million being spent on these 3 players. Also arriving are goalkeeper Sergio Romero and right back Matteo Darmian.

Schneiderlin and Depay have already got their first goals in a United shirt, and will want to contribute once the competitive games get underway.

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been their usual active selves in the transfer market so far. Toby Alderweireld, Kevin Wimmer, and Kieran Trippier have all been brought in to shore up the back line, with almost £20 million being outlayed on these.

They have let a number of their fringe players move on with their careers. Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Benjamin Stambouli, Vlad Chiriches, Lewis Holtby, and Younes Kaboul have all been let go. Almost £35 million has been earned from their sales.

Spurs have lost their last 2 friendly matches, against MLS All Stars and Real Madrid, and still have to play AC Milan on Wednesday before their competitive debut.

Matches between these 2 sides usually have a lot of goals, with only 2 of the last 6 meetings ending with under 2.5 goals and only 2 games seeing either team keep a clean sheet.

For this reason, I think odds of 13/10 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score are excellent value for money.
