Marseille can flex their firepower against faltering Monaco

Marseille look the best bet when they host Monaco on Sunday at Stade Velodrome. Roberto De Zerbi’s side can take advantage of an out-of-form Monaco team.

They are third in Ligue 1, four places and six points above Monaco, with both teams having won more games than they’ve lost this season. Marseille have nine wins and four defeats from their 15 games, while Monaco have won seven and lost six. There have been 32 games between teams in the top half of the table this season, and 20 (63%) have gone the way of the home team, for a profit of 17.86 points to a one-point level stake.

The hosts are deadly going forward this season. Marseille have scored three or more goals in six of their 15 games, and no team has scored more Ligue 1 goals this season than their 35. They have also been prolific at home, scoring 23 goals in seven games – an average of over three goals per game.

They are in good form at home, unbeaten in their last 11 Ligue 1 games and have not tasted defeat in their seven home matches this season. In contrast, Monaco have lost their last two away games and have lost four of their last five overall. However, Marseille have lost just one of the last seven head-to-heads with Monaco at home.

Monaco have struggled defensively in recent games, failing to keep a clean sheet in 16 of their last 19 Ligue 1 matches. They have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season, conceding 14 goals in seven road trips.

A 2-0 win for Marseille looks a decent correct-score option.
