Metz and Lorient meet in relegation six-pointer

Metz have the slight form edge ahead of a huge Ligue 1 relegation battle against Lorient this weekend. Les Grenats have taken six points from their last six games, but still sit three points behind Lorient in one of the three relegation positions.

A win here would move them level with Les Merlus, who have lost six league games in a row and are without a win since late September.

Frederic Antonetti’s side have shipped seven goals in their last two games, however, so may be best swerved in the outright betting with the favourite’s tag. A better route to profit could be backing both teams to score as neither looks to have much defensive solidity at the moment.

That trend should continue on Saturday when a Lorient side without a clean sheet in their last ten games turn up at the Stade Saint-Symphorien. Coach Christophe Pelissier was given the dreaded vote of confidence by the club president this week, so he must be on thin ice.

Metz may be too short in the match betting for us, but Lorient’s limp form tips us in the direction of a 2-1 home win when it comes to estimating the final score. Lorient have not conceded more than two in their last five games while Metz are yet to keep a home clean sheet.
