Middlesbrough vs Swansea Predictions

Middlesbrough were outclassed in midweek as Liverpool came to the Riverside and left with a 3-0 victory under their belts. This followed on from Boro’s 1-0 loss to Southampton last weekend and makes it three defeats, three draws, and two wins in their last eight games in the Premier League.

In fairness to them this isn’t a massively poor return considering they have faced Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City during this time, but their earlier season form leaves them down in 17th position in the Premier League. They are only three points clear of the drop zone.

At home their overall form looks worse, but they have had to face some tough opposition and to be fair to them they have certainly improved lately. Wins against Bournemouth and Hull in their last four home games provide some solace to the season ticket holders who saw their side fail to win their first four home games of the season.

Swansea returned to their drab ways again on Wednesday as well as West Brom beat them 3-1 at the Hawthorns. This illustrates Swansea’s recent inconsistency after they beat Sunderland 3-0 last weekend, but inconsistent is at least better than their consistently terrible form earlier in the campaign.

The visitors have won two, drawn one, and lost three of their last six games, but both of those victories came on home soil. Away from home they have lost six of their last seven games in the Premier League and are winless since the opening day of the season.

Swansea just can’t seem to get going on the road, and whilst their defence isn’t the greatest at the Liberty Stadium it takes on a whole new level on more unfamiliar turf. They have conceded 15 goals in their last five trips away, which should please the rather goal-shy Middlesbrough.

They have only failed to score in two of their away games this season though, whilst Middlesbrough have conceded in all but two of their home games this season. I definitely can’t see Swansea keeping a clean sheet, so odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score looks a good value bet. I’m going for a 2-1 win for Middlesbrough at 9/1 for my correct score predictions too.
