Midtjylland vs Silkeborg IF Predictions

Wolves hungry for first win of the season

Midtjylland can claim their first win of the season when they entertain Silkeborg at MCH Arena on Friday. Bo Henriksen’s men were left wondering how they didn’t beat AEK Larnaca in the home leg of their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday after dominating the contest from start to finish.

The Wolves had their first big chance to score in the first minute, when lively forward Edward Chilufya’s effort was saved, and hit the post shortly after in a frantic opening to the game. Chilufya then saw his goalbound strike wrongly disallowed for offside before AEK cleared another effort off the line.

Henriksen’s side played with the sort of intensity he demands for most of the game and could easily have won 3 or 4-1 without any complaints from the opposition, but it finished 1-1. After Randers held them by the same score in their opening league game, the Wolves will be hungry for their first win of the season – and they should get it against a Silkeborg side that gave them no trouble last season.

Kent Nielsen’s men finished just one place below FCM in the final standings, but lost all four meetings with the Herning-based club by an aggregate score of 9-3.  Midtjylland usually score multiple times against Silkeborg and, given how much they created on Tuesday, should be trusted to do so again on Friday.

Chilufya, who opened the scoring in a 4-1 win over Silkeborg late last season, offers good value in the anytime goalscorer markets at just shy of 2/1. The Zambian speedster has scored three goals in just over 700 minutes of Superliga football and should have had a couple on Tuesday.

A 3-1 home victory is forecast because Silkeborg, who have scored in each of their last 14 Superliga away games, have lost four of their last seven on the road and conceded multiple goals five times during that sequence.
