Modena vs Sassuolo Predictions

  • Sassuolo saw 130 goals scored in their 38 Serie A matches last season.
  • The Neroverdi won 14 competitive games last term – 11 of those victories contained over 2.5 match goals.
  • Modena scored 69 goals in 38 games en route to winning promotion from Serie C last season.

Neroverdi set to serve up Coppa entertainment

Alessio Dionisi’s Sassuolo may have fallen narrowly short of a top-half finish in Serie A last season, but they emerged as one of Italy’s most watchable outfits as 130 goals were scored in their league matches. Despite the loss of talisman Gianluca Scamacca to West Ham, the Neroverdi look set to thrill once more this season, and a Coppa Italia trip to Modena represents their first chance to impress.

Indeed, Sassuolo won 14 competitive games last season – 11 contained a minimum of three goals. Dionisi’s team have added several new faces and – for now – kept hold of attacking stars Domenico Berardi and Giacomo Raspadori, and have won four of their five pre-season friendlies, four of which contained over 2.5 goals. Sassuolo plundered 37 away goals in Serie A last season, a tally only bettered by Scudetto winners Milan, and will hope to put on a show on Monday.

Modena, meanwhile, look likely to struggle against Sassuolo after winning promotion from Serie C last term, though their record of 69 goals in 38 league games suggests they could land a blow. The hosts are unbeaten in nine outings including friendlies, with six of those matches containing over 2.5 goals.

Sassuolo set to win high-scoring affair

Given their attacking strength and fine travelling record, Sassuolo are well worth backing to put Modena to the sword on Monday, and look likely to beat their Serie B opponents in a match containing over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, a 3-1 away victory could offer some value for correct score punters; Sassuolo went 12 league games without a clean sheet at the end of last season.
