Eagles can soar to high-scoring win

Montenegro’s defence will be pushed to the limit by a Serbian side that can be attack-minded to the point of being reckless when the two nations meet in Monday’s Euro 2024 qualifier.

The Eagles sealed their reputation as an entertaining side at the World Cup when they averaged 4.33 goals per game when crashing out at the group stage. Dragan Stojkovic shows no signs of changing his ways in the wake of the tournament in Qatar, which should lead to yet more high-scoring qualifiers.

Montenegro are no mugs, but would struggle to go toe-to-toe with Serbia and nor would their fans accept sitting in and trying to play on the counter-attack in this home game. All the ingredients are there for this game to feature three of more goals, but Serbia also look worthy of support in the match result market.

Montenegrins not in Serbia’s class

Stojkovic’s side have won nine of their last 13 on the road, including at tough places such as Portugal, Hungary and Sweden while they also came away from Oslo with a 2-0 win against a Norway side featuring Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard last September.

Montenegro, ranked 40 places below the Serbs at 69th on Fifa’s list, are not in that class. although they have proven capable of registering at home to higher-placed nations – doing so against six of their last seven opponents in Podgorica.

Our main recommendation, therefore, is to back a Serbia win with at least three goals in the game and a correct score play of a 2-1 away win also looks best suited to this matchup.
