Monza To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Sampdoria are the lowest scorers across Europe’s top five leagues this season with eight Serie A goals, while they have also lost nine of their last 10 matches to nil, including each of their last five. Monza, on the other hand, are unbeaten in six in the league, and half of the 28 goals they have conceded this season came in the six matches they played before coach Raffaele Palladino took over.

Monza 2-0

Reason for tip

Monza have scored 12 goals across their last six league matches, hitting multiple goals in four of them, and they thrashed Sampdoria 3-0 on the road earlier this campaign. The visitors, meanwhile, have conceded 34 Serie A goals this term – the third-highest tally in the division.

Monza vs Sampdoria Predictions

  • Sampdoria have lost each of their last five games to nil.
  • The visitors have failed to score in nine of their last 10 games, the exception being a 2-1 win over Sassuolo on their return to action after the World Cup.
  • Monza – who beat Sampdoria 3-0 on the road in October – are unbeaten in six league games.

Crisis club set for more misery

While casual viewers might see Juventus as Serie A’s current crisis club, Sampdoria are certainly a contender for that title, having been threatened with a points deduction of their own following their failure to pay players’ salaries. Their off-pitch misery has translated onto the turf, where they have lost nine of their last 10 games without scoring. With upcoming opponents Monza unbeaten in six matches, little better is expected from Dejan Stankovic’s men on Monday.

As you might expect, no side in Serie A can match Samp’s pitiful tally of eight goals this season, which is the worst across Europe’s top five leagues and is seven worse than the next-lowest return in the Italian top-flight (winless Cremonese’s 15). Sampdoria have lost five successive matches to nil since beating Sassuolo in early January, and were hammered 3-0 by Monza on their own turf back in October. Stankovic’s men appear destined to follow local rivals Genoa into Serie B.

Monza, on the other hand, are enjoying a fantastic campaign after winning promotion last year. The Silvio Berlusconi-owned outfit have gone six games unbeaten in Serie A, a run which culminated in last week’s terrific upset at Juventus – their second win over the Bianconeri this term. The likes of Inter and Fiorentina have failed to beat Monza since the World Cup break, and Raffaele Palladino’s men should have few problems in swatting Samp aside.

Monza set for shutout win

Half of the 28 Serie A goals conceded by Monza this term came in the six games they played prior to Palladino taking charge in mid-September. Given their huge improvements and Samp’s dreadful run, backing the hosts to win to nil could be a lucrative play.

Meanwhile, a routine 2-0 Monza victory appears a strong correct score prediction – they have hit 12 goals in their last six league matches.
