Motherwell vs Dundee United Betting Tips & Predictions

Outside of the top three of the Scottish Premiership it’s looking very tight. There is just 11 points separating 4th placed Ross County and 11th placed Kilmarnock. Motherwell sit amid this clutter of closely matches sides in 7th, with their 35 points leaving them four points off the top four and seven points above the relegation playoff position.

Unfortunately for Dundee United, they are one of the few teams without much hope of getting a top four spot. They are bottom of the table with just 20 points collected from their opening 28 matches.

However, they shouldn’t be written off yet. They have a game in hand on 11th placed Kilmarnock, who are eight points above them, and have started to find their stride a bit recently. They knocked Ross County out of the Scottish FA Cup on Saturday to make it three wins from their last four matches in all competitions.

This is a stark contrast to the team that won just three of their opening 24 matches in all competitions, and their recent resurgence will have given them a glimmer of hope that they can survive the top flight relegation battle this season.

Motherwell are in a decent vein of form at the moment as well though. They have also won three of their last four outings to end a poor run of five defeats and one draw over a period of six matches.

Both teams’ upturn in form has largely been thanks to an improvement in their attacking play. Motherwell have scored eight goals in their last four matches whilst Dundee United have netted seven times in their last four away days.

This has unsurprisingly led to some quite high scoring matches, with four of each teams’ last six outings seeing three or more goals scored. This makes odds of 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals look good value to me, and I’m also backing a 2-2 draw at 12/1 considering Dundee United have gone unbeaten in four away matches.
