Motherwell to Win

Reason for tip

Motherwell are on a run of two wins from their last three games, and have also been victorious in four of their last nine outings at Fir Park. St Johnstone meanwhile are winless in five, losing four times.

Motherwell 2-0

Reason for tip

Motherwell have scored at least twice in their four home wins since Christmas, including a 5-0 drubbing of Ross County. St Johnstone, the lowest away scorers in the division, have conceded at least two in four of their last seven on the road, including a 2-0 loss to St Mirren.

Motherwell vs St Johnstone Predictions

  • Motherwell are unbeaten across three outings at home
  • St Johnstone have lost five of their last seven away games
  • The Steelmen have picked up two victories in their last three fixtures

Can Motherwell sneak a home win?

A mediocre season is threatening to finish in a rather decent fashion for Motherwell, who have recently beaten Livingston 4-1 and Ross County 5-1.

Those two wins were followed by a 3-0 defeat to Hibs last time out, but Stuart Kettlewell’s side should be confident of a return to form on home soil, where they are unbeaten across three outings.

A couple of those have ended all square, but they have also lost just two of their last nine across all competitions at Fir Park, winning on four occasions.

St Johnstone ended the campaign miserably

The same cannot be said of their visitors, who are on a dreadful run of five games without a victory, dumping them into the relegation play-off place in the process.

They could still jump above Ross County, but recent results suggest that seems unlikely, with that form including away defeats to Livingston (2-1) and Aberdeen.

Craig Levein’s side have in fact lost six of their last eight across all venues, while they are the lowest away scorers in the entire division, netting just nine times over the course of the campaign.

I predict that Motherwell will win this game, with 2-0 my correct score prediction.
