Nancy vs Dijon Predictions

Pablo Correa’s Nancy will look to recover from a 6-0 hiding at Monaco on match day 12 when they play host to Dijon at Stade Marcel Picot in Ligue 1 this Saturday night.

Les Chardons temporarily looked to be on the up at the back end of October as a league and cup double over Caen followed a highly respectable draw away to Bordeaux.

However, their progress was swiftly halted at Stade Louis II prior to the international break and Nancy are still languishing second bottom in Ligue 1 as a consequence heading into this weekend’s round of games.

They welcome a Dijon team who they were promoted alongside in 2015/16 and the hosts will be hoping for a repeat of the 3-1 victory that they achieved against Olivier Dall’Oglio’s side at Stade Marcel Picot last term.

However, a similar result is far from certain, considering Nancy have lost four of their six home outings in 2016/17 and it remains to be seen just how much the aforementioned hammering in Monaco has affected their confidence and team morale.

Dijon will potentially view this fixture then as an ideal opportunity to bank their first away success in the top flight and it’s surprising that the visitors are rated 11/4 underdogs following some fine results of late.

Dall’Oglio’s men are unbeaten in six Ligue 1 matches and whilst they have so far failed to record a victory on the road, decent draws against Bastia and St Etienne have been secured in recent weeks to back up home wins over Lorient and Rennes.

Dijon’s improved results mean they travel to Stade Marcel Picot 11th in the table and that is a position most fans would have likely settled for after a dozen games.

Their travelling supporters will be demanding more goals having seen just two in five away outings thus far but we think Dall’Oglio’s side have what it takes to improve on that front and sneak all the points here.

Dijon have bagged two goals per game at Stade Gaston Gerard (the third best home scoring record in Ligue 1) demonstrating their ability as an attacking force and if just some of that prowess can be transferred here then Nancy’s fragile defence will have work to do.

We can’t ignore the 11/4 on offer for the away side here despite their defeat in last season’s corresponding fixture and we’ll also take Dall’Oglio’s team 1-2 in the correct score market at a decent 12/1.
