Newcastle vs Aston Villa Betting Tips

Aston Villa are on their worst run in the Premier League in their history. They haven’t won since the opening day of the season and their run of 15 games without a victory is record breaking for them.

12 of their 15 Premier League games since that 1-0 win over Bournemouth have been defeats, although their recent draws against Manchester City and Southampton have shown that they are slowly improving.

They will take heart from the fact that they haven’t faced many of their fellow relegation candidates as well. They played Sunderland towards the beginning of the season and picked up a point, and they have to play the out of form Norwich as well as this game against Newcastle before the end of the year.

But Aston Villa desperately need to win both of these matches, as the gap between them and safety is becoming increasingly large. They are currently eight points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Newcastle have shown definite signs of improvement recently. They have won three of their last five matches and managed to drag themselves clear of the drop zone, but a bad result here could see them slip back into the bottom three.

The Geordie fans are notoriously loud. Going to St James’ Park during the good times is a difficult fixture for the best of teams, but during the bad spells of form the crowd probably hinders the home side more than anything.

It’s no surprise that two of their recent three wins have come away from home then, and their last eight home matches have only yielded two wins for Newcastle.

The home side also have a large amount of injuries to contend with. No less than nine players are missing for Newcastle, including Mike Williamson, Tim Krul, Gabriel Obertan, Rolando Aarons, and Cheikh Tiote.

This combination of factors gives Aston Villa their best chance of a Premier League win that they have had since the opening day of the season. I think they can get a point or more on Saturday, and odds of 4/5 for an Aston Villa Win or Draw Double Chance are excellent value.
