Newcastle to Win

Reason for tip

Newcastle are unbeaten in normal time in their last seven home games (W6, D1) across all competitions and they’ve won their last four. Home advantage could prove the difference here as despite being in form Chelsea have tended to struggle on their travels, winning just one of their last nine Premier League trips (D3, L5).

Newcastle 3-1

Reason for tip

There have been at least four goals scored in three of Newcastle’s last five league fixtures and in two of Chelsea’s last four. Newcastle have scored at least three goals in each of their last three home games and at least twice in six of their last seven at St James’ Park. Chelsea arrive in form and should be able to contribute so a 3-1 home win has a chance.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Newcastle are unbeaten in normal time in their last seven home games (W6, D1).
  • Chelsea have won just one of their last nine away games in the league, losing five.
  • Newcastle have scored at least three goals in four of their last five home league games.

Top five the target for in-form duo

Newcastle and Chelsea meet in the early Premier League game on Sunday in a massive fixture in terms of the battle for a top five finish and Champions League qualification.

Chelsea have hit form at the right time and they recorded a fifth consecutive win on Thursday night by beating Djurgarden 1-0 in the Conference League to wrap up a 5-1 aggregate victory.

Newcastle have won just one of their last three games (D1, L1) but at St James’ Park they have been in fine form, winning each of their last four, and they can make the most of their home advantage this weekend.

Newcastle can boost top five bid

Chelsea are on an impressive winning run but their away form, particularly in the league, has been less impressive.

The Blues have won just one of their last nine on the road in the Premier League, at Fulham, and have lost five of those games.

Enzo Maresca’s side have a reasonable 25 points to show from 17 away games in this competition but Newcastle have a formidable home record. The Magpies have 11 wins in their 17 home games and the fourth best home record in the division in terms of points per-game, and they have lost just four times at this venue in the league.

High-scoring affair possible

There is a good chance we will see a few goals in this Sunday afternoon and this looks a good fixture for fans of over 3.5 goals bets. There have been at least four goals scored in three of Newcastle’s last five league fixtures and in two of Chelsea’s last four, and that is reflected in a correct score prediction of a 3-1 home win.

Eddie Howe’s EFL Cup winners have scored at least three goals in each of their last three home games and at least twice in six of their last seven, while Chelsea arrive in form and should be able to contribute.

Alexander Isak has scored three goals in his last four games and has either scored or assisted in six consecutive appearances at St James’ Park across all competitions (five goals, one assist). The Swede will also be on spot kick duties, so he stands out as a clear contender for an anytime effort.
