Newcastle vs Everton Predictions
Newcastle finally seem to have found their feet under Steve McClaren and are looking to distance themselves from the relegation trouble they found themselves in.
They opened their season with just one win from their opening 11 Premier League games, with six of those matches ending in defeat for the struggling north easterners.
However, they have now won three of their last six in the league and only lost twice, with this major influx in points lifting Newcastle out of the relegation zone and into 17th position.
Newcastle are only two points clear of the drop zone though, so a loss on Boxing Day could send them plunging back into the abyss. A win could move them as high as 13th though.
Everton’s attacking play so far this season has been scintillating. Their 3-2 defeat at home to Leicester on Saturday saw Romelu Lukaku score his 13th Premier League goal and in his 7th consecutive match.
In fact, Everton have scored in each of their last ten matches in all competitions, with 22 goals being netted for the Goodison Park outfit during this period.
However, they have been struggling to find back up their attacking play in terms of results. They have only won one of their last six Premier League games, drawing four and losing once.
They have conceded in ten of their last 11 league matches as well, which makes a newly resurgent Newcastle side a much more difficult prospect than it would have been a couple of months ago.
Newcastle only scored in one of their opening four Premier League games this season, but they have found their feet in recent times and hit the back of the net in their last four matches.
This makes odds of 8/13 for Both Teams to Score look really good value to me, and that’s what I’m backing along with a 2-1 Everton win at 9/1.
