      Newcastle vs Manchester United Predictions

Newcastle’s 1-0 defeat to Watford in the FA Cup 3rd Round on Saturday made it four defeats in a row for the team.

Despite a few good performances and surprising wins against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs, they are still struggling against sides they should be putting up a fight against.

They may be on a four match losing streak, but they have managed to put in decent defensive displays against good attacking teams such as Everton, Arsenal, and Watford.

All of their four previous matches have ended 1-0, and they haven’t conceded more than one goal in a game in any of their last seven matches.

Newcastle are just two points from safety at the moment, with Swansea occupying the first of the safe spots in the Premier League.

Manchester United sit in 5th position, three points outside the top four after a dismal spell of form over the past month or so.

They left it late on Saturday when they hosted League One side Sheffield United in the FA Cup. Manchester United didn’t deserve to win, and it was only because of a late penalty by Wayne Rooney that they saved themselves from a trip to Sheffield.

This was Manchester United’s second win in a row, with their victory against Swansea last weekend ending their eight match winless streak in all competitions.

But their problems are far from over. Louis van Gaal is coming under constant criticism for his mediocre brand of football, and his possession based style simply doesn’t serve up enough goals.

Considering Newcastle’s recent upturn in defensive capabilities and the fact that Manchester United have only managed four goals in their last five games I think Newcastle have a really good chance of getting something. Odds of 1/1 for a Newcastle Win or Draw Double Chance look really good value as well, so I’m backing that along with a goalless draw at 8/1.
