Nice face improving Auxerre

Nice suffered a heartbreaking late defeat against Toulouse last time out but they are in a decent spot to bounce back against Auxerre.

Only PSG and Monaco took more points at home last season than Nice and they are facing an Auxerre side who were one of the worst travellers last term, only Rennes and relegated pair Montpellier and Saint-Etienne lost more road games than their ten.

The visitors did manage to secure a 1-0 home win in their first game of the season against Lorient but they look likely to be among the relegation candidates come the end of the campaign and Nice are a significant step up on that level of opponent.

The Eaglets have only lost one of the last seven head-to-heads between these two and should be able to grind out a win to turn around what has been a disappointing start to the campaign.

The home side were knocked out of Champions League qualifying by Benfica before their defeat to Toulouse but they will be boosted by the signing of striker Kevin Carlos, who arrived this week from Basel.

Nevertheless four of the last five meetings between these two have gone under 2.5 goals and another tight affair, take a 2-0 win for the home side.
