Nice are backed for victory

Strasbourg may be the weak favourites, but they have failed to win their last two Ligue 1 games as favourites and it is worth siding with Nice to get the win at home to Strasbourg on Saturday.

Strasbourg are six places and six points above Nice in the table. The hosts are 13th having won five and lost nine of their 16 games, while Strasbourg, in seventh, have seven wins and seven defeats.

Nice have lost just one of their last seven Ligue 1 meetings with Strasbourg, who have gone four games without recording a victory. They have lost four of their last six matches and have not won any of their last five away games.

Strasbourg’s defence has been far from solid recently. The visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last six league games and have shipped 16 goals on the road this season – an average of two per game.

The visitors are struggling to find the net. Strasbourg have failed to score in three of their last four Ligue 1 matches and have lost their last two away games to nil.

Strasbourg are enduring a difficult run of results on the road, having failed to win six of their last seven Ligue 1 away games, a sequence which has included five defeats.

A 1-0 win for the home side looks a decent correct-score option. Four of Strasbourg’s last five Ligue 1 games have stayed under 2.5 goals and they have gone down by a single goal in three of their last four.
