Notts Forest vs Cardiff Predictions
These clubs met at the City Ground as recently as the final day of last season when Cardiff won 2-1 thanks to strikes from Joe Ralls and Eoin Doyle. The result was in keeping with how the sides had ended the season with Cardiff upwardly mobile after an encouraging couple of months while Dougie Freedman’s side lost six of their final eight games.
Things have continued in that sort of fashion in the opening weeks of this season too and with Cardiff still looking the more impressive outfit, they look over-priced here at 11/5 to win the game, something which they are obviously capable of doing.
The Welsh side are unbeaten so far in the Championship and saved their best performance for their most recent game when they saw off Wolves 2-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium. They are strong on the road too under Russell Slade and have only lost one of their last 11 Championship away games so another trip to the City Ground should not fear them.
5 of those 11 have ended in draws though so consider backing Cardiff to win in the ‘draw no bet’ market at 11/10 for a bit of extra security in case City fail to convert one point into three which can often be their problem.
Nottingham Forest look further away than ever of sealing a long overdue return to the Premier League and if they are to change divisions this season it is more likely to be a downward move if their opening games are anything to go by.
5 points from 4 games may not sound like a disastrous return and it isn’t but the manner of their performances have been more of a cause for concern when coupled with how badly they ended the last campaign.
Their only win this season came via a scrappy 2-1 win at home to relegation favourites Rotherham while their other home games have resulted in an uninspiring goalless draw against Charlton and a 4-3 defeat to League One Walsall in the Capital One Cup.
Cardiff are on paper at least the strongest side to come here so far this term and given they won at this ground as recently as May, the Bluebirds will really fancy a repeat. They aren’t playing well enough to wipe the floor with Forest but that little extra dose of confidence and belief could see them to a repeat of their 2-1 win a few months back and you can back the scoreline to be the same at generous odds of 10/1.
