Oldham vs Exeter Predictions

Whilst football fans up and down the country will be delighted to have Premier League football back in our lives, for fans who follow football at the lower levels, they will know that the season is now well and truely underway as we see a return to action under the floodlights. This Tuesday sees an Oldham Athletic side in desperate need of a win face off against an Exeter City side who will be determined to maintain their excellent start to the season for a little longer.

Oldham Athletic have not exactly had the easiest of few months as following the high profile departure of Paul Scholes last season, they have struggled to get things back on track. This season they tried to go down a new route by introducing players and a manager not familiar to fans of English football and the signs so far are not exactly positive. The hosts have yet to register a single point in their three league games and the only time they have earned a positive result was against Liverpool’s Under 23 side in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Making the trip to Boundary Park is an Exeter City side who are almost the polar opposite to their hosts and who will be delighted with the form they have shown in the early stages of the campaign. The Grecians sit joint top with seven points from their three league games so far and given that they have also managed to progress to the second round of the Carabao Cup, they will have plenty of confidence of being able to extend that run with another three points on Tuesday night.

Given the form of these two sides, it is hard to see anything other than a home win. That confidence is only boosted when we consider the recent meetings between these two clubs as Exeter are undefeated in their last seven matches against Oldham and have only conceded in one of their previous five encounters. With this in mind, backing an away win is the only bet which makes sense.
