Olimpia vs Emelec Predictions
Olimpia are yet to win a group game in the Copa Libertadores with losses coming against Deportivo Táchira (2-1) and Pumas UNAM (2-0), before their 2-2 draw away to Emelec last week, which they’ll be disappointed they didn’t take the full 3 points from.
Their form has improved recently winning their games either side of the Emelec game in the Paraguayan league, but they will have to get all 3 points in this game if they want to remain in the competition longer after their 3 year absence.
The game against Emelec in Ecuador last week was tightly contested with the home team holding the majority of the possession. Fernando Gimenez fired Emelec ahead after 4 minutes, but Olimpia quickly responded 8 minutes later Miguel Paniagua. Olimpia were awarded a corner on the 21st minute with defender Blas Riveros heading in. For the rest of the game Olimpia parked the bus, Emelec proceeded to have another 5 shots on target without out success, that was until the 91st minute where winger Fernando Gimenez got his second of the game, making the game 2-2.
Emelec have had mixed form with a 4-2 loss away to Pumas UNAM in their first game, winning 2-0 at Deportivo Tachira at home in the next. With the 2-2 draw against Olimpia coming last week. They are still in contention for progression from the group but really need 3 points from this game.
Lots at stake in this one, both teams will be attacking from the off, and like last week we should see plenty of goals. Get Over 2.5 goals at 5/4 with bet365
