Orlando City vs Chicago Fire Predictions
- Orlando City have drawn one and lost one of their two games so far this season.
- Chicago Fire have an identical record with just one point on the board so far.
- Orlando have scored just one goal so far, conceding two.
- Chicago have scored twice but have conceded three times so far.
Orlando looking to get their season going
Orlando City haven’t really got started in the 2020 season so far with their opening day goalless draw with Real Salt Lake being quickly followed by a 2-1 defeat against Colorado Rapids. The side have struggled already this season and hopes of a first ever playoff place have already diminished following their poor start.
Orlando have only managed seven shots on target across their two games this season, something that the side will hope the return of both Dwyer and Nani will help with moving forward. One big positive for the side is that they have restricted their opponents to just six shots on target combined so far as their defence looks a little more organised and strong compared to last year.
Things are looking encouraging for Chicago
Results haven’t gone the way of Chicago Fire so far this season but there are plenty of signs that the team are heading in the right direction. The opening day loss to Seattle was unlucky with The Fire matching their opponents for the vast majority of the game whilst they could’ve snatched all three points against New England after a strong second half.
The team look like they could gel really well and the nine shots on target across the two games so far is an indication that the attacking talent available to Chicago could be pivotal this season. The likes of Mihailovic and Frankowski have impressed in wide areas and Beric looks as though he could link up the play really well through the middle.
More misery for Orlando City this weekend
This game is an interesting one with both sides getting off to less than ideal starts to the new season and they will both be keen to get their first win on the board. Orlando have looked really blunt in attack however and it’s hard to see them finding enough goals to find the victory. Instead we’re backing Chicago Fire on the double chance market meaning a Chicago Fire win or a draw gives us the win this weekend.
Whilst Orlando have struggled in the final third, their defence looks a lot more solid this season and we can’t see them taking a big beating against a Chicago Fire side that are still finding their ideal rhythm after a disruptive off season. We think this one ends in a low scoring draw with both sides sharing the points in a 1-1 draw.
