Stalemate on the cards at El Sadar
A run of just three defeats from their last 12 league games has pulled Osasuna away from the relegation zone, although scoring goals remains an issue for Jagoba Arrasate’s side.
Indeed, Los Rojillos have failed to score in five of their last seven La Liga games and they have also drawn a blank in each of their previous four home matches.
Only the bottom two sides in La Liga, Eibar and Alaves, have scored fewer home goals than Osasuna this season, with Sunday’s hosts having netted just 13 times from 15 games on their own patch.
Elche’s away form has been dismal of late, as after winning their opening two matches of the season on the road, Fran Escriba’s side have failed to win since, taking just four points from their subsequent 14 games.
That poor away record is a major reason why Elche currently sit in the relegation zone, while scoring goals on the road has also proved problematic – they are averaging less than a goal a game on their travels.
Osasuna’s lack of home goals, coupled with Elche’s struggles on the road, suggests a low-scoring match could be on the cards on Sunday and we are predicting under 2.5 goals to be netted.
Our overall score prediction is for the match to finish 0-0, a scoreline which will be familiar to Osasuna, as three of their last four league games having ended goalless.
