Palermo vs Atalanta Predictions
Can Atalanta claim revenge for their shock 1-0 defeat to Palermo at home earlier in the season? That loss could prove to be crucial for la Dea come the end of the season, as they’re currently pushing for a place in Europe next term. The hosts are just six points off the Champions League spots, while they’re level with fifth placed Inter, who are currently in possession of the final European spot. The fight for the top five is tight, so they can’t afford to drop any more points against the 18th placed Rosanero.
It’s probably an easier task to play Palermo away than at home this season, given that they’ve claimed just 29% of their points at home. They’ve also scored just 26% of their goals at the Renzo Barbera, which makes things difficult for them to claim results here. Things are likely to get even worse for the struggling side, given that the visitors are pretty good on their travels.
Atalanta come here with the third best away record in Serie A, coming in above the likes of Roma and Lazio. They’ve managed to win 42% of their trips, and they’ll be aiming to add to that tally on Sunday. The hosts have little going for them, although they did win their first home match of the season last weekend, as they saw off relegation rivals Crotone. Their home form doesn’t exactly make for good reading, having conceded in 91% of matches, while they’ve failed to score in 55% of their outings. On top of that, they’ve let in two or more in 45% of their games here.
Palermo have taken just 0.36 points per game at home this season, which is an awful return. While that was recently boosted, it’s hard to see their recent victory firing them on to more success. The Rosanero are facing a team who are posing a stern threat to some of the biggest sides in the division. Atalanta aren’t just competing for a European spot, they’ve proven themselves to be quality opposition for Serie A’s leading names.
Given how well they’ve been doing this season, we have faith that Atalanta can see off a side in the bottom three. They should certainly come out on top at a team with such an abysmal home record. We think it’s worth backing Atalanta at 8/11 with bet365, as they look to continue their push for Europe. We’re also backing a 2-0 win for the visitors, which is priced at 7/1 with bet365.
