Palmeiras haven’t had the best start to the new season so far, with just two of their opening eight competitive games ending in victory for the hosts. To be fair though, they have only lost twice as well, and their host of draws has put them in 2nd position in the Brazilian Paulista.

Their opening Copa Libertadores match also ended a draw, with a high scoring 2-2 draw at River Plate. This match represented one of the toughest fixtures in the group, and the Brazilians will be very pleased to have come away with a point from it.

Rosario Central drew 1-1 at home to Nacional in their opening group match, a result which has contributed towards their unbeaten start to the new season. The visitors have won four and drawn two of their opening six matches and sit at the summit of the Primera Division after five matches.

Palmeiras have the home advantage for this one but they are really struggling to find wins at the moment, and they’re coming into this match on the back of a home defeat to Ferroviaria on Sunday. In addition, they are coming up against a Rosario Central side who are high on confidence at the moment after picking up an early lead domestically. They haven’t lost yet this season and have won both of their away games so far.

This makes odds of 10/11 for Rosario Central to avoid defeat again look really good value. I don’t think they will be able to beat Palmeiras though and I think these two will cancel each other out for a 3rd successive match, so a 1-1 correct score prediction looks good to me.
