      PAOK Thessaloniki vs Marseille Predictions

      • Marseille have scored in 16 consecutive away games.
      • The hosts have hit the back of the net in 13 of their last 14 home matches in all competitions.
      • Both teams have scored in six of Marseille’s last seven fixtures.

      Uphill battle for the hosts

Greek outfit PAOK have it all to do when they welcome Marseille to the Toumba Stadium on Thursday evening as they look to overturn a 2-1 deficit in the second leg of this Europa Conference League (UECL) quarter-final tie. It was an intense match both on and off the pitch but Marseille were the victors thanks to a Dimitri Payet stunner. That result meant that PAOK had lost back-to-back games via a 2-1 scoreline. However, both of those came away from home but they’re a different beast in front of their own fans, going unbeaten across their last 14 competitive home matches and winning 11 of those. That includes three wins in this competition, two of which came via a single goal margin.

Marseille are currently on an incredible run in which they have won seven straight matches, of which six have witnessed both teams finding the back of the net, highlighting how entertaining their fixtures have been of late. They followed up their first-leg win with a routine 2-0 victory over Montpellier in Ligue 1 at the weekend and they’ll feel confident that they can silence the home crowd here and put the tie beyond all doubt.

      Goals at both ends likely

This tie is interestingly poised and whilst on paper it looks as though Marseille should navigate their way through this tie and into the semi-finals, they will be put under pressure. The hosts have hit the back of the net in all of their previous 10 games across all competitions and will have the crowd right behind them. We’re expecting both teams to get on the scoresheet here with a possible repeat of the first leg scoreline.
