Partick Thistle vs Morton Predictions
- Only two sides picked up more points than Partick’s 17 this season.
- Morton at least found the net in each of their last six away games.
- Partick won five of the last seven home H2Hs within 90 minutes.
Promotion-chasing Partick to move on up
The hosts have lost just one of their last 11 games ahead of this 2022 opener and with a game in hand, they could take full advantage by moving up into promotion contention, if only they can beat rock-bottom Morton.
Partick boss Ian McCall has faced Morton on 32 prior occasions during his long career and encouragingly, his side on the day are unbeaten in 12 straight clashes with the Championship strugglers ahead of this (W7, D5).
Notably, six of McCall’s last seven victories over Morton also saw both teams score, so don’t be surprised if Partick allow a goal in just a second home game across their last eight games, including this one.
Something has got to give for Morton
Fans of Morton will be hoping that it they can put the ‘new year, new me’ mantra into action as they entered 2022 bottom of the table. Damningly, Morton won just one away league game across their last nine trips and that was against Dunfermline, a side locked on a paltry 14 points with them.
Overall, it seems foolish to back anything other than a straightforward home victory here at a generous price given the circumstances. I will give Morton a goal in the correct score prediction after considering both their solid scoring away form of late and Ian McCall’s leaky record against the visitors.
