Partick vs Dundee Predictions

Partick finally managed to end their winning drought on Friday when they beat Ross County 3-1 away from home to claim their first three points since October. In between those wins have been five defeats and two draws, which left them plummeting down the table.

Fortunately for them they never lagged too far behind, and that win on Friday pushed them up to 9th position in time for Christmas. They still only have a two point lead on bottom of the table Inverness though, so they could really do with building on this festive win.

Partick’s home form doesn’t suggest that is likely though. Their last victory at the Firhill Stadium was on the opening day of the league season, and since then they have lost five and drawn three of their eight games.

Dundee are in high spirits after mounting a fantastic comeback on Friday. They trailed 2-0 at home to Hearts but flipped the game on it’s head and ended up winning 3-2. This made it four wins, one draw, and three defeats in their last eight outings in the Premiership. This is a significant improvement on their 11 match winless streak back at the start of the season.

This poor run at the beginning of the season has left them in a similarly perilous position as their opponents. They lie 7th in the Scottish Premiership but are only three points above the bottom of the table.

Neither team has a true standout goalscorer to call upon, but they do have plenty of players chipping in with the goals. Marcus Haber is the most in form of these with a goal in each of his last two games, so backing him to score anytime could be a good idea for our goalscorer predictions.

Dundee will be high on confidence here, but their recent away form is barely any better than Partick’s home form. I think the best bet here is for both teams to score. Partick have only kept a clean sheet in one of their nine home games this season, whilst Dundee have conceded in seven of their nine away matches. Partick have scored in all but one of their home games too, and whilst Dundee’s scoring records on the road are less impressive they should be able to find a way past a Partick defence who have shipped 16 goals in their last eight home matches.

Odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score look good value to me, and with Partick in such poor form I think Dundee can just edge it, so I’m backing a 2-1 correct score predictions at 12/1.
