Penarol vs Huracan Betting Tips and Predictions

It hasn’t been an enjoyable start to the season for Huracan for various reasons. Their Copa Libertadores preliminary round win over Caracas was marred by their team bus crashing and toppling over on their way back to the airport in Venezuela. Fortunately and contrary to initial reports there were no major injuries but they were shaken by the incident and have only played 2 games since, losing their opening group game 2-0 at home against Atletico Nacional of Colombia and they could only draw in the league at home to San Lorenzo on Saturday.

Their opponents Penarol are fairly strong favourites to win this and always relish the chance to get the better of sides from Argentina. They were surprisingly beaten 2-0 by Felix in Uruguay at the weekend, their first defeat of the season but picked up a solid 1-1 draw away to Sporting Cristal in their opening Libertadores game.

This is their first home game in the competition for 2 years so it will be a big occasion and with Huracan not looking too impressive, it’s hard to look past a home win here. Penarol are fairly strong at home usually in continental competitions and since the 2004 edition they have won over 50% of their home games in the Libertadores and they were ever presents in it between 2011 and 2014 so they’ve played a lot of games. They’ve won 7 of their last 8 at home in all competitions so backing Penarol to win at 4/6 looks a reliable bet here.
