Problems piling up for Peterborough United

The hosts were sent back to Cambridgeshire with their tails between their legs during the week as they received a 4-0 thumping from Cardiff City. It did little to help their survival bid and they now sit two points behind Reading and from safety. It looks as though it will be a battle for a single survival place as ten points currently separate 20th and 21st place. Darren Ferguson’s men have conceded the most goals in the league (59) but have also scored the second-least overall. Not an ideal situation when you need to get points on the board.

In contrast, Preston North End are looking to push towards a possible playoff place, but a 0-0 draw with Huddersfield Town during the week will be seen as a stumbling block. However, they sit just four points off of the top six and that’s largely due to Ryan Lowe overseeing his side claim 10 points from the last 15 available to them away from home. They have also successfully kept three clean sheets in their last three away league matches.

Goals to be few and far between

Things just go from bad to worse for the hosts and they’ve shown little sign of turning things around. They aren’t scoring anywhere near enough goals but they’re conceding them at an alarming rate. The visitors have been solid defensively and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them claim a fourth straight away clean sheet whilst picking up a narrow win.
