The runners up are entered into Champions League qualification, while 3rd, 4th and 5th all enter various stages of the Europa League. The 18 teams competing in the 2020-21 edition of the Portugal Primeira Liga are:

FC Porto, Benfica, Braga, Sporting Lisbon, Rio Ave, Vitoria Guimaraes, Famalicao, Farense, Moreirense, Gil Vicente, Santa Clara, Boavista, Vitoria de Setubal, Nacional, Belenenses, Tondela, Maritimo, Pacos de Ferreira.

Who has won the most Portugal Primeira Liga titles?

The 2020/21 season is the Primeira Liga’s 87th edition, but the title has been won by just five different teams in its history. The past winners include the big three of Portuguese football, Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, while Belenenses and Boavista have both won one title apiece.

Benfica broke their own record in 2018/19 to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga title for the 37th time, while Porto are some distance behind on 28 titles and Sporting Lisbon sit on 22 having not won the league since 2001/02.
