Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Last season’s UEFA Super Cup ended 2-2 and PSG saw both teams score in five of their final seven games last season. There have been goals at both ends in Aston Villa’s last five pre-season friendlies, and their Champions League quarter-final tie in 2025 ended 5-4 on aggregate.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

PSG won last season’s UEFA Super Cup on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time, and a similar outcome could be on the cards here after a 5-4 aggregate scoreline when these sides met in 2025.

PSG vs Aston Villa Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in each of Aston Villa’s last five pre-season friendlies.
  • Nine goals were scored in two games between these sides in the 2024/25 Champions League.

Parisiens target further European success

PSG became the first side in almost a decade to retain the Champions League title last season, but they could be made to work for a second successive UEFA Super Cup in what could be a high-scoring affair in Salzburg.

Les Parisiens beat Spurs on penalties in last season’s curtain-raiser, netting two late goals to come back from a 2-0 deficit, and this week they face another Premier League side after Unai Emery won his fifth Europa League title, this time with Aston Villa.

Emery set for rebuild

The Spaniard has been forced to reconstruct some key areas of his side over the summer, though, with Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans the big-name departures.

But PSG may not be at full strength, either, with many of their stars enjoying a deep run in the World Cup and not yet back to match fitness.

These two sides met in the 2024/25 Champions League quarter-finals and, while Villa may have lost that tie, they put four past PSG in that 5-4 aggregate result, and both sides should enjoy more attacking success on Wednesday.

Both teams have scored in each of Aston Villa’s last five pre-season friendlies and there were goals at both ends in five of PSG’s last seven games last season. Back both teams to score, along with a repeat of the 2-2 scoreline in last season’s UEFA Super Cup.
