PSG vs Rennes Predictions
- PSG won 3-1 at Rennes in the reverse fixture.
- PSG have won by at least two goals in five of their last six home games.
- Rennes played a Europa League qualifier on Thursday night.
PSG can take advantage of Rennes fatigue
PSG have a seemingly unassailable 13-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 and they can make sure they at least maintain that advantage with a comfortable win over visitors Rennes on Sunday.
Les Rennais have won two of the last three meetings between these two sides and in normal circumstances they would probably provide the pacesetters with a bit of a test, but they come into the clash after a tough Thursday night game.
Rennes claimed a 3-2 win over AC Milan in a Europa League tie but were still eliminated after a 3-0 first leg loss. Les Rouge et Noirs battled valiantly against the Italians but came up short and may struggle to get up for this game in the capital.
PSG have been in great form with 10 wins and one draw in their last 11 games. Their last five home wins have all been by two or more goals, so backing the hosts to cover a -1 handicap against a potentially fatigued Rennes outfit looks a good option for our main bet.
PSG won the reverse fixture 3-1 and a repeat of that scoreline looks a reasonable correct score prediction. Rennes have scored in 10 of their last 11 games and can at least grab a consolation effort, as PSG have conceded in seven of their last nine at the Parc Princes and have scored exactly three goals in three of their last six here.
It remains to be seen as to whether PSG will start with Kylian Mbappe on Sunday after his decision to join Real Madrid, so Bradley Barcola could instead be an option as an anytime scorer. Barcola has two goals in his last six games and the 21-year-old may feel he has a point to prove after a below-par display against Nantes last time out.
