Win may not be enough for PSV

Olympiacos will head into the second-leg of this tie with a 4-2 lead to protect from last week’s reverse meeting, but they are likely to be in for a tough evening in Eindhoven.

That’s because PSV have been near-perfect on home soil of late, as they have won 10 of their last 11 matches across all competitions at the Philips Stadion.

Roger Schmidt’s side have also lost just one of their last eight Europa League home games, although that did come in this season’s competition against Granada.

By contrast, Olympiacos’ recent European away record has been poor, as they have only won one of their last nine such matches on the continent, all be it the majority of those games have been in the Champions League.

The Greek giants have also only scored once in their four away matches in Europe this term, although they have netted in all their domestic games on the road this season.

That domestic record, as well as the fact Olympiacos scored four against PSV a week ago, suggests Pedro Martins should at least see his team get on the scoresheet on Thursday.

However, we predict PSV will extend their impressive winning record at home in this game, although our prediction of a 2-1 victory means it will be Olympiacos that advance through to the last 16.
