FK Qarabag vs F91 Dudelange Predictions
- Dudelange have conceded more goals than any of the other three teams in Group A.
- Qarabag can finish level on points with APOEL but still wouldn’t go through. APOEL have the superior head-to-head record.
- Between them this pair have surrendered an average of 5.4 goals per game.
Hosts looking to go out on a high
Ultimately, it’s been an unsuccessful foray into continental football for Qarabag this time around. There’s one game to go but they cannot qualify for the knockouts, such is the current layout of the group.
The Azerbaijanis were never going to tussle with Sevilla, but they’ll be disappointed not to have made use of being in a group with APOEL and minnows Dudelange. Failing to beat APOEL either home or away is where Qarabag went wrong.
Even though they’re out, the hosts have a good chance to go out on a high. Facing Luxembourg side Dudelange at home shouldn’t be too tough, especially as they won the reverse fixture by four goals to one.
Defensive weakness costly for visitors
Dudelange are also not in contention as far as qualifying is concerned. Thursday’s visitors have unsurprisingly fallen short at this level, though even if they lose this match, they won’t exit the competition without a win, as they got the better of APOEL on match-day one.
When they beat the Greeks first time out, the minnows from Luxembourg may have fancied themselves to exceed expectations in Group A, but they’ve since shown their true colours, losing four out of four, scoring three goals and conceding a whopping 13 in the process.
Dudelange’s one win did come on the road, but they still conceded three goals in the process. Defensive weakness has been a problem away from home, where they’ve shipped six in two matches. They also struggled massively in that respect in the reverse of this fixture.
Home goals on the cards
Given the performances of both teams in Group A, it’s easy to feel that backing the hosts to enjoy themselves in the final third, much as they did in the reverse fixture, is the way to go. Specifically, ‘Qarabag to Score Over 2.5 Goals’ catches the eye. Qarabag notched twice at home against APOEL, while they scored four in the reverse of this fixture. Such efforts point towards no shortage of home goals against a visiting defence that has surrendered three or more in four out of five and in two out of two on the road.
‘Correct Score’ punters can try a 3-1 win for Qarabag, who can match both APOEL and Sevilla by scoring three at home against Dudelange. Though not overly strong in attack, the visitors could quite easily get on the score-sheet, as they have done in three out of five and as they did when scoring once on route to losing the reverse fixture.
