      Qatar vs Turkey Predictions

Qatar are looking like they might qualify for their first ever World Cup at the moment. They have played five World Cup qualifying matches so far, and sit at the top of Group C with a perfect return of 15 points.

They still have a lot of work to do in qualifying yet though, but it’s looking promising that they will at least advance to the next round of qualifying.

Qatar have only two goals during their qualifying period, with Hong Kong netting twice against them.

At the other end of the pitch they have scored eight times in their last three matches, with the match before that seeing them record a huge 15-0 victory over Bhutan to take their record to 26 goals in five matches.

But they are currently ranked 85th in the world, and coming up against an 18th placed Turkey side who are in high spirits will be a different prospect than beating the 180th ranked Bhutan.

Turkey secured automatic qualification to Euro 2016 in the final match of the group qualifying period. Selcuk Inan’s dramatic 89th minute free kick clinched a 1-0 win over the in form Iceland to see the Turks finish as the best 3rd place finishers.

This was fairly deserved as well. They had to pick themselves up after a poor start to qualifying, where they picked up just one point in the opening three games. Turkey then remained unbeaten in their next seven group matches, winning five of them and beating the Czech Republic, Iceland, and Netherlands on the way.

Including friendlies Turkey have won seven of their last nine matches, so it’s going to be a big ask for Qatar to continue their own eight match unbeaten streak.

I’m expecting Turkey to get the win on Friday. They will be high on confidence and they undoubtedly have the better players to choose from. Odds of 8/11 for an away win look pretty good value as well, so I’m backing that along with a 2-0 correct scoreline at 13/2.
