Tip Reasoning

  • QPR are unbeaten in nine of their 11 home league games this season.
  • Bournemouth failed to win their last four away league games.
  • Bournemouth failed to win in each of their last four visits to QPR.

QPR could bounce back

Mark Warburton’s men recently put together a six-game unbeaten run of Championship games ahead of their 2-0 home defeat to Stoke last time out.

However, they come up against a wounded animal in Bournemouth here, who are the worst form side in the league across the last five games and ahead of this round, in spite of their lofty position.

Conversely, only three sides picked up more points than QPR across the last five games prior to the Boxing Day round, which leaves me baffled as to why they are priced up as outsiders for this clash given the two opposite trajectories these clubs find themselves on.

The Cherry has popped

At the time of writing, Bournemouth were clinging onto their top-two spot by a hare’s breadth and they will likely need to win here if they are to hold onto it any longer. Even if they are still there by kick off, they know that automatic promotion is not a given after their woeful run of form.

The visitors have not been the most reliable favourites this season – evidently, they possess a mere 38% win rate in away league games when priced up as pre-match favourites (W3, D3, L2).

Given the stark contrast between the form of these clubs, I am going for a 2-1 home win at a great value price. Because of their generous price in the W-D-W market, I am going for QPR on the double chance market as it gives insurance while retaining that all-important value.
