QPR vs Ipswich Predictions
The Tractor Boys are currently 6th but have Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham hot on their heels in the race for the play-offs. With those clubs meeting Ipswich will have to get a result here to stay in the top six.
Ipswich were 2-1 winners in midweek at home to Reading but put in one of their worst showings of the season last weekend when they lost 3-0 at St Andrews. That’s their only defeat in their last 7 in the league though so they are a tough nut to crack and will take heart from the fact that QPR have found 3 points very hard to come by of late.
Since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took over they’ve won just once in 11 matches and have also lost start player Charlie Austin. That has reduced their goal threat considerably and they were involved in a goalless stalemate at Nottingham Forest in midweek.
It is hard to see there being an avalanche of goals here either. There have been over 2 goals in only 2 of the last 7 matches at Loftus Road and Ipswich haven’t scored in either of their league away games in 2016 so far. Neither side are quite playing their best football at the moment so consider backing there to be under 2.5 goals at 4/6.
This game has draw written all over it. QPR have drawn 4 of their last 5 games at Loftus Road and it would have been 5 had Hull not grabbed a last minute winner when they visited on New Year’s Day. Ipswich would probably see a draw as a reasonable result against a QPR side that have looked a bit more solid in recent weeks and are unbeaten in 4.
Therefore consider backing a 1-1 draw at 5/1.
