Rangers vs Dumbarton Predictions
All Rangers needed to do on Saturday was beat Raith Rovers to claim the Scottish Championship title, but the game brought everything but a victory for Rangers. It was a fast paced affair full of drama as Rangers came back from a goal behind to lead 2-1 approaching half-time, but a Raith Rovers equaliser saw the 3rd goal scored in eight minutes and the teams entered the break all square.
Rangers took the lead again four minutes after half-time, but a 94th minute equaliser meant that Rangers would have to wait a bit longer to claim the Scottish Championship trophy.
This thrilling 3-3 draw marked the 3rd match in a row that Rangers have conceded three goals, with this awful defensive record contributing to the fact that they have failed to win two of their last five matches in all competitions.
Dumbarton are in desperate need of some points at the moment. They are coming into this game in 8th position in the Scottish Championship, just two points clear of the relegation zone. They do have a game in hand on Livingston below them, but they are in danger of being dragged into a real relegation battle at the moment.
They did manage to pick up a point at home to Greenock Morton at the weekend, making it one win, two defeats, and two draws in their last five outings. Away from home things look a lot worse though, with five defeats on the bounce and no wins in their last eight trips away.
Dumbarton have failed to score in each of their last seven away days as well, so there is hope for Rangers to get a clean sheet to end their awful defensive run. They have also managed to concede a huge 13 goals in their last three away matches, so it’s not looking good for them.
I’m backing Rangers to Win to Nil at 4/6 along with a very comprehensive 4-0 correct score prediction at 8/1 which will see Rangers wrap up the title in style.
