Rangers vs Partick Thistle Predictions
It hasn’t been the storming return to the Scottish Premiership that Rangers fans have been dreaming of for the past couple of years. They finally made it back in after walking to the Championship title, and they made a good start to their season as they won all four of their Scottish League Cup group games without conceding a goal.
However, their opening Premiership fixture saw them fail to beat relegation candidates Hamilton Academical at the Ibrox. They did go on to win their next three matches, including a 5-0 thrashing of Peterhead in the League Cup, but since then things have declined.
They drew 1-1 at Kilmarnock before losing the first Old Firm Derby of the season 5-1 at Celtic Park, sparking a row among the Rangers players which has eventually resulted in new signing Joey Barton being suspended from club duties. It’s unlikely we will see the midfielder in a Rangers shirt again.
Since then Rangers have drawn against Ross County, continued their progress in the League Cup with a 5-0 hammering of Queen of the South, and most recently lost 2-1 at Aberdeen to leave them a disappointing 7th in the table.
It could be worse for them though, they could be Partick Thistle. The visitors started in a good fashion as they won all of their League Cup group games and beat Inverness CT in the opening league game of the season.
Since then things have declined rapidly though. They lost to Dundee United to send them out of the League Cup, and they then lost three league games on the bounce before back to back draws against Kilmarnock and Motherwell. They are currently six games without a victory and find themselves rock bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
Partick Thistle have been very poor at the back this season, and they have conceded seven goals in their last three away days. In all competitions all but one of their matches has seen at least three goals scored, and considering Rangers have scored 12 goals in their last four home games, I think a high scoring game could be on the agenda here.
I do think Rangers will get the win though, so I’m backing a Rangers Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 1/1 along with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 11/1.
