Real Betis vs Malaga Predictions
Real Betis have put a really good run together and had taken 12 points from 6 matches prior to their 3-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao last weekend. Those points which included wins over Espanyol, Granada and Valencia look to have all but secured their safety and 3 points here would take them above Malaga and in to the top half, which would allow them to really start looking forward to next season. They have once again been heavily reliant on Ruben Castro for goals and the 34 year old has scored 5 times in his last 4 starts to take his tally for the season to 15 in La Liga, which accounts for more than 50% of his team’s goals.
Malaga will think if they can keep him quiet here they can certainly get at least a draw. The side from the Costa del Sol have only lost 1 of their last 5 and were 1-0 winners against Sporting Gijon last time out. They’ve lost only 2 of their last 9 away from home in La Liga and those both came against sides in the top 5 so they will be confident in their ability to secure a result here.
It is very hard to see there being many goals in this match. Real Betis have the joint worst goalscoring record in the league with just 27 goals while Malaga have only netted 2 more but do boast the best defensive record outside of the top four. There have been under 2.5 goals in 9 of the last 11 matches at the Estadio Benito Villamarin and with a Malaga side that is built on solid foundations the visitors backing under 2.5 goals at 8/13 looks a reliable bet here.
