Draw and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Real Oviedo have failed to win 10 of their last 11 league matches, drawing their last two at home. Meanwhile, Mallorca have lost six of their last seven away games, albeit against much stronger sides than Oviedo.  Back a draw with under 2.5 goals, which has landed in four of the last six head-to-head meetings.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Four of the last six head-to-heads produced fewer than three goals with five of those matches drawn and three finishing 1-1, so history is pointing towards the points being shared again.

Real Oviedo vs Mallorca Predictions

  • Mallorca have lost 6 of their last 7 away games.
  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in four of the last six head-to-head meetings.

Goals at a premium at the New Carlos Tartiere

The threat of relegation hangs over both rock-bottom Real Oviedo and 16th-placed Mallorca ahead of their crucial clash on Friday at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere. Luis Carrion stopped short of calling the game a must-win after his side’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last weekend, but there is no doubt that this is his side’s most important game for some time.

A win would surely lift them off the foot and bring Mallorca within a point, but the promoted side lack the firepower to really test the visitors. Real Oviedo, who have failed to win 10 of their last 11 league matches, have scored a league-low seven goals at a rate of 0.5 per game.

Oviedo have drawn their last two home games 0-0, albeit they were clinging on for a point with 10 men against Rayo Vallecano a fortnight ago. Mallorca are only slightly better, sitting 15th with 13 points. They drew 2-2 with Osasuna last time out but have lost six of their seven away La Liga fixtures, conceding 14 goals on the road this season.

Both attacks struggling to fire

Goals will probably be at a premium on Friday, however, with neither side really firing on half of their cylinders, let alone all, up front.

Four of the last six head-to-heads produced fewer than three goals with five of those matches drawn and three finishing 1-1, so history is pointing towards the points being shared with a goal apiece.
