Celtic can shut out hosts Riga

Celtic’s Champions League aspirations were ended in the third qualifying round by Ferencvaros but they should at least advance to the next stage of Europa League qualification by beating Riga.

The Latvian hosts have been superb domestically, winning 17 of their 19 matches in the Higher League this season but they were far from convincing in their last European qualifying endeavour.

On that occasion they only edged San Marino minnows Tre Fiori 1-0 and the visit of Celtic should represent a significant step up in quality.

Neil Lennon’s men are on a run of four successive Scottish Premiership wins, having kept two clean sheets, and they can take the spoils in a low-scoring affair. With Riga shipping only 12 league goals this term, Celtic to win and under 3.5 goals is our best match prediction. The Glasgow club have managed to net at least twice in each of their last four games, so 2-0 could be a solid correct score selection.
