Riga vs Gil Vicente Predictions

Gil Vicente begin their first European campaign with a testing trip to Riga to face an in-form local side that are capable of holding firm. The Latvian outfit have only been in existence since 2014, but have built up plenty of European experience in recent years.

Riga progressed through two rounds of qualifying last year only to fall at the final hurdle in a controversial clash with Lincoln Red Imps. Sandro Perković’s side are well into their stride this term, having played in 22 domestic league games and four Conference League matches, so will have a competitive edge over their Portuguese visitors.

Gil Vicente were tough as teak in the Primeira Liga last term, losing only four of their 17 away games and claiming some notable scalps along the way. They can dig in and make it difficult for Riga even if they aren’t able to hit top gear themselves – suggesting they can get a draw to take back to Barcelos next week.

A 1-1 draw looks advisable in correct score betting as Ivo Vieira’s side scored in all but two of their away league games last season while Riga have not been blanked at home in their last four in all competitions.
