Lyon still in the Champions League race

They may sit in ninth place in Ligue 1, but Lyon are still only six points off the top three, and their home form is reason to think they could qualify for the Champions League.

Peter Bosz’s side have won seven and lost just two of their 14 games at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, one of which was last time out to Lille.

Rennes struggle on the road

Rennes’ away form is seriously holding them back, with defeat to Leicester in the Europa League on Thursday night the fifth time they have lost on their travels in the last seven outings.

Bruno Génésio’s side managed just one shot on target at the King Power Stadium, but they do tend to score goals, netting in 12 of their last 15 on the road.

Both teams have scored in three of their last five away Ligue 1 games, but none of their four wins have come against teams in the top half of the table.

I think both teams will score in this game, but Lyon will still win the match, selecting 2-1 to the hosts as a correct score prediction.
