      Rochdale vs MK Dons Predictions

When MK Dons take on Rochdale at Spotland Stadium on Tuesday evening, they’ll be looking for a first league win in six matches. In contrast, Rochdale will be hoping to record a third straight win after beating Bolton last time out.

Improvements have been made by Dale over the last few weeks, as they’ve won two on the bounce, beating Accrington by two goals to one and then Bolton by three goals to one. Defensively, they continue to be weak, but they’ve turned things up a notch in the final third, scoring five goals in two matches.

One of the main concerns that manager Brian Barry-Murphy has is Rochdale’s home form. Tuesday’s hosts have won just one out of six at Spotland. They have lost only two of the other five, but a lack of wins will still disappoint the boss, who has seen his side score just five and concede eight on their own patch this term.

Fortunately for Rochdale, MK Dons have struggled to get going away from home, as they’ve lost four of their five travelling matches.

When the visitors went away from home and delivered a pleasing counter-attacking display to beat Blackpool a short while ago, it looked as though Paul Tisdale’s men were on the up, but they’ve since gone six games without a win, five of which they’ve lost, two of which have been away from home.

For much of the campaign, MK Dons have been blighted by a lack of goals. They’ve notched an average of just 0.92, while they’ve scored only once in their last six matches. Even if they were very strong at the back, which they’re not, they’d still have to improve significantly going forward.

However, despite being out of form, the visitors may just fancy themselves to get something on Tuesday, as Rochdale’s overall performances at home have been poor. The hosts have created less at home than MK Dons have on the road, while they also have a slightly worse average expected goal difference.

From a betting point of view, this isn’t the most appealing fixture. Both teams are closely matched in the early market, which seems about right. One bet that does stand out as slightly overpriced is ‘Both Teams to Score – NO’. Dale have scored in only two of their last four at home, while they’re averaging a very weak 0.75 expected goals for. MK Dons have scored in only one of their last six overall. Given such figures, the chances of both teams notching on Tuesday doesn’t appear to be as great as the current odds would have us believe.
