Rochdale vs Newport County Predictions
- Newport County have won consecutive games, both against top six opposition, and are unbeaten in four.
- Rochdale are winless in six League Two games, and have lost their last two to bottom half opponents.
- Rochdale have won just one of their last six home league games, while Newport’s last away loss in the league was back in September.
Rochdale out of form, Newport impressing under new boss
Robbie Stockdale’s Rochdale are winless in six league games, after a 4-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers last time out. Only five teams have conceded more than the 30 goals shipped by Rochdale, who have won just one of their last six at home in League Two.
They face a difficult task on Saturday, when James Rowberry’s Newport County travel to Spotland. Newport are unbeaten in six league games, seeing off strong opposition in their last wo, courtesy of rousing comeback victories over Sutton United and Port Vale.
Since former youth boss Rowberry took charge, his team have won five, drawn two and lost just once, against promotion rivals Swindon, in league action. The Exiles should be expected to maintain their good form on Saturday, with their last away league defeat coming all the way back in September.
Back visitors for a third straight win
Newport should be confident of racking up a third successive league win here, and are a decent price to do so, making a straightforward punt on Rowberry’s team look the best available play here.
However, Newport’s record of 26 goals conceded is worse than those of over half the fourth tier, and both teams have scored in each of their last five league games. A 2-1 away triumph, then, looks a solid correct score prediction, as the visitors chase an automatic promotion spot.
