Roda JC vs PSV Predictions

Normal service resumed for PSV last weekend, as they ended a poor run of form with a victory over ADO Den Haag. They were facing the possibility of dropping out of the Eredivisie title race before that game, but everything is looking a lot brighter for them now. The Dutch champions are just four points off top spot. With Feyenoord wobbling, can they close that gap this weekend?

PSV had some struggles, but they are on an eight game unbeaten run in the league. They also boast the best away record in the Eredivisie, which they’ll be aiming to continue when they travel to face Roda on Saturday. The hosts are in the relegation play-off spots, and they need points to climb up from 17th spot. The table isn’t likely to look any better for them after this weekend.

The champions did lose focus and concede against ADO, but their display going forward should really worry Roda ahead of this clash. PSV seemed back to their best in that 3-1 victory, and they should be able to record a similar win if they continue in that vein. The hosts have conceded in 100% of their home matches this season, while they have let in 1.36 goals per game.

PSV were boosted by the return to form of Luuk De Jong. The former Newcastle forward scored in the Eredivisie for the first time in over two months. He did score 26 times on their way to the title last season, so he could well go on a run and get his side back in the title race. The Dutchman is priced at 4/6 with bet365 to score any time this weekend, while he’s 3/1 to open the scoring.

De Jong should get a few opportunities here, as Roda give away a lot of chances. On average, they face 13 shots per game, which isn’t a good record to have against a side as clinical as PSV. The visitors create 15 chances per game, of which 15% hit the back of the net. They’ve scored 2.29 goals per game on the road, and they could end up boosting that this weekend.

PSV come into this game having not lost away in the league in their last 20 outings. 80% of their wins on the road this term have been by two goals or more, and they’re pitting that against the team with the worst home record in the Eredivisie. The champions score 70% of their goals on their travels, while they’ve conceded just 43% of their goals against away from the Philips Stadion. Even if they were to have another defensive slip here, the visitors should still win comfortably. We’re backing them with a -1 handicap, which is 4/5 with bet365.
